We are here to Promote Lupus Education, Awareness and
Research. Provide Information for patients, caregivers
and/or loved ones with overlap diseases that will in some
small way help to understand, cope and "arm themselves" for
an early diagnosis. Early diagnosis is what saves lives and
this is the hope we share with each of you.
Thousands of Americans die from Lupus every year. Lupus
deaths have increased 61% in the past 25 years. No new
treatment has been
approved by the FDA in over 40 years. Currently 1.5 to 2
million Americans suffer from Lupus. That is 1 out of every
185 Americans. Lupus is more prevalent than multiple
sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, AIDS, cystic
fibrosis, and sickle cell anemia COMBINED. More than 16,000
Americans develop Lupus each year and 90% of those are women.
A note from Terry:
Prior to my receiving my diagnosis for Lupus I searched the
web for answers and related info to my situation and
symptoms. My situation was unique having overlap with AIED
and I could not find a lot that was specific for me in one
spot. When I was finally diagnosed with Lupus-I was mad at
the world, I was scared and so afraid of what tomorrow would
bring. I leaned on the internet to help me find a comfort
zone of understanding. I compiled all that I read over the
past year or so - so that others could refer to it and
family could learn from it and understand.
